Why do it? It's a waste of time right?
Honestly, 99% of planning is a waste of time. The reasons can be many.
Not everyone is focused on the same successful outcome, is usually a big road block that causes dissentigration.
For me, it was the long drawn out process. I could never keep my attention or energy level up for it. I use to dread the "management retreat", or endless planning sessions. Most of the time it became a forum for bitching and exerting will.
Upon hearing my dissatisfaction with the process a friend of mine introduced me to Verne Harnish's magic One-Page Strategic Plan....
If you go to Verne's site, you will see a plethora of content and data available for entrepreneurs with growing companies.
My partner and I have been doing this plan for the last couple of years, and I cannot even tell you how interesting it is to look at everything on one page, then compare it to the previous year. You will be amazed at what changes, how fast it changes.
So here's to 2006, I would be willing to bet it will be nothing like you planned it to be.
