Recently, my wife came back from shopping at Whole Foods and while I was helping her unload the groceries, she began telling me a story about how a lady gotten to the front of the checkout line and then noticed that her purse was missing. This was after the all of her groceries were already scanned.
Of course, my first reaction probably would have been a selfish one like: "Damn, of all the lines I pick, I've got to get the lady who got her purse stolen."
But my wife, the bastion of patience that she is, waited for the situation to resolve itself. So while two other people bailed the line my wife just moved up and got to hear first hand how the staff was handling the situation. First of all - no one accused her. They were sympathetic to her plight and immediately told her not to worry, they would cover the cost of her groceries. Obviously the lady was shaken up and the immediate response from the cashier and manager put her at ease. They kindly bagged all the groceries help her out to her car and promptly got a police officer to help her out.
Now, I don't go to Whole Foods too much, but every time I do, the service is impeccable and I get the vibe that the employees truly love and care for the place they work.
Hearing this story, once again drives home to me, that this is a place that treats people fairly and they will most certainly continue to receive our families business.
