As a matter of fact, my current search communications company, was built entirely through word of mouth and our personal networks.
Recently, I had a moment of awareness about a WOM company. In a period of three days, I had four people tell me about this cold prevention product called Airborne.
By the time the fourth person told I could not resist to buy the product and try it out.
Now why would a product like Airborne go viral by WOM? Easy, it’s the story. Each person who told me about the product told me the same exact story – “It was developed by a school teacher we was sick of getting sick from her second graders”
Now, think about the target market – “Adults with children”. Every parent can relate to their kid going off to school and bringing home a cold to share with the rest of the family. Even if this is not where the cold actually came from, for us parents it’s the most logical genesis.
